Community Cleans
Our community cleans aim to encourage everyone to get outside into nature, enjoy what it has to offer and then give back at the same time.
Plastic pollution is still a huge and growing issue for our environment, wildlife and us which isn’t going away any time soon. We believe that cleaning up and physically connecting people with the issue of plastic pollution is one of the ways to build knowledge, open up conversations and offer a way to tackle this global issue on a local scale.
Whether you want to be part of collective action at an organised clean or head out of your front door in your community - it all makes a difference.

Regular Cleans
Community cleans are where Earth Action North Devon started as a community organisation and they are still an integral part of what we do as an evolving environmental charity. As well as tangibly making a difference to our local outdoor spaces they are a fantastic opportunity to educate and empower.
We organise regular cleans at local beaches Saunton and Instow, we support other community groups in their regular cleans at Woolacombe & Croyde, we organise adhoc cleans in much needed spots in the local area, emergency cleans when the community calls for it and annual cleans on our Day of Action and our Tarka Trail & Estuary Clean Up.
Come and be part of the action - find out where our next cleans will be on our What’s on page or our social media pages.
Annual Day of Action
Each year we organise a Day of Action in North Devon and Torridge. We call on organisations, businesses, schools and individuals to get outside on the last Saturday of January to break out from the dark days, get out into nature and give it a little clean.
We have been blown away by the involvement of the community since our Day of Action launched in 2022 with 1639 volunteers collecting 3502.2 kg’s of waste to date!!
If you would like to support, join or attend the Day of Action please get in touch.
Annual Tarka Trail & Estuary Clean Up
We run an annual Tarka Trail & Estuary Clean Up for World Clean Up Day in September focussing not just on the trail itself but on the estuary that borders it as well.
In 2024 we brought multiple organisations, businesses and individuals together alongside millions of others across the globe on the same day.
100 volunteers from 12 local businesses and organisations
650 kilos of rubbish along 10.6 miles of the Tarka Trail
If you and your business would like to get in involved we welcome We welcome businesses who want to clean a section as part of their annual CSR days and anyone who wants to organise a clean of their own (individually or in a group). We will also have a series of public cleans along the route that anyone can get involved with.
If you would like to support, join or attend the Tarka Trail & Estuary Clean Up please get in touch.
